In October:

hacienda santa cruz.jpgOctober 20, 2012 – Hacienda Santa Cruz, Merida: Gastronomy Festival. Four young chefs will provide a culinary show, led by Hacienda Santa Cruz chef Carlos R. Estrella Alvarado and another special guest chef of honor.

Wines and gourmet foods will be presented, as well as seminars and a culinary show, topped off by a gourmet five-course dinner with live music.  Final details later here.

 

In November:

November 24-25, 2012 – Merida: The 11th Yucatan Bird Festival “TOH.” The bird-a-thon xoc ch’ich’ consists of traveling different routes around Yucatan that include the coast, wetlands and forests with teams of eight people maximum and a local guide who specializes in birding. The goal is to identify as many bird species as your team can in 24 hours, while having an exciting experience with nature. There are two categories: xoc ch’ich’ beginners and xoc ch’ich’ classic. Each participant receives an extensive list of the birds of Yucatan, a baseball cap with the 11th Bird Festival inscription and a T-shirt with a colorful local bird on the front. On the second day, a breakfast will be offered at the Hotel of Mayaland near to Chichen Itza, where all the participants and local guides will share their experiences and the three winning teams of each category will be awarded.
